Tape Waves are a two-piece, dream-pop band out of South Carolina. Their addictive brand of warm, hazy, pop songs are perfect to lift your spirits on these cold, rainy, gray (at least where I live) days of fall.

Their solid new LP, Here To Fade, is out now through Bleeding Gold Records. For a taste give “So Fast” (below) a spin. Enjoy.

New York trio, birdbird, blasts some heavy, noisy, ear drum melting, lo-fi, punk rock on “Corporation Setup” (below) from their debut EP, Corporation Setup. They describe their sound “…sounds exactly like a fire at your niece’s birthday party.” Pretty spot on. You need to give this a spin.

Corporation Setup is available now from birdbird’s Bandcamp page. Enjoy.

Chicago rock ‘n’ rollers, The Evening Attraction recently released their newest 7-inch single, The Evening Attraction Presents: Tea Party, on Classic Waxxx Records. The A-side, “The Kids Don’t Care (For Rock ‘n’ Roll)”(streaming below) is a stomping, garage-pop romp that’s sure to shake even the gloomiest person out of their funk.

The Evening Attraction Presents: Tea Party is available digitally from The Evening Attraction’s Bandcamp page and also available on vinyl from Classic Waxxx – I highly recommend picking up a vinyl copy before they are gone.

Atlanta powerhouse trio, Omni, throw it down on their hook-filled, power-pop release Deluxe. The chugging bass, angular guitar and frantic backbeat of opener “Afterlife” (below) not only make it one of the best songs on the album, but one of my favorite songs so far this year.

Deluxe is out now through Trouble In Mind Records. It’s one of my favorite records so far this year and a great one to crank up and pogo around the house to. Enjoy

Tucson, AZ’s Sea Wren is the side project of Cherish Rendon, who also plays for the fabulous psych-pop band, The Resonars. As Sea Wren, Cherish writes, sings and plays all guitars on all songs, with fellow Resonar, Matt Rendon, on the drums.

Her self-titled debut is out now on cassette through Lolipop Records and digitally available from Sea Wren’s Bandcamp page. It’s a jangly, garage-pop gem that you will find yourself playing over and over again. Give the standout track, “Birds of Slumber” (below) a spin to see what I mean.

Used Cassettes

The members of Seoul, Korea’s Used Cassettes hail from all over the map, including Canada, South Africa and Detroit. They have been tearing up the local scene while becoming the first foreign band to be signed to top Korean label, Magic Strawberry Sound.

Their new LP, Rock N Rills is a sun-soaked, guitar-driven blast that’s perfect for sharing with the neighbors as your cruising down the street with the volume cranked to 11. Check out the slower-paced “Ducati” (below) for a taste of what these guys can do.

Rock N Rills is out now and available through iTunes.

Fascinations Grand Chorus

This New York duo’s bouncy debut, self-titled EP, is a pop-stomping good time. Who knew that a mutual love for the Misfits could bring two people together to create something as catchy as this.

Check out the jangly EP opener “Welcome”(below) for a sampling of the Fascinations Grand Chorus’ goodness, then head over to their Bandcamp and pick this sucker up. I’m hoping there’s lots more music to come from these two. Enjoy.

Night School are a 3-piece garage pop band out of Oakland, Ca. Their sugary sweet, debut full-length, Blush, is packed with reverbed vocal harmonies over shimmery, fuzzed-out guitars. Give the sun-soaked “Last Disaster” (below) a spin – it’s a 60’s era pop gem that’s sure to get you bopping around the house.

Blush is out on June 17 through Graveface Records. You should definitely check this out.

Woods

Brooklyn’s Woods are back with their outstanding 9th LP, City Sun Eater in the River of Light. Taking the best parts of almost every genre of music out there and adding it their already wonky, folk-psych sound, Woods have created a groove-driven (dare I call it “groove-psych”), psychedelic rock masterpiece.

Check out the head bobbing beat of “Can’t See At All” (below) for a mere sampling of how cool this album is.

City Sun Eater… is out now and available on whatever media suits your fancy from WOODSIST Records – I highly, highly recommend it.
