So long, Simone! Have a nice Thanksgiving in Brooklyn. (I’ll probably get yelled at by our loyal fact-checking readership, who will remind me that none of the three women in this band is named Simone.) I’d love to spend my T-day in Brooklyn, or listening to Verses Of Comfort, Assurance and Salvation — which the Japanese consider to be “8 tracks of perfect lo-fi synth pop” — but it looks like I’ll be at home with just one song by Au Revoir Simone to ease me through my tryptophan hit.
gotta say, I love what you dudes are doing here! I've found loads of new new stuff I like all free to download.
Keep up the good work.
This it's great! I like so much.

Don't worry, I won't be yelling, but I believe that the name comes from the death of the late, great Nina Simone. For since Nina died in the spring of 2003 -and the band formed in the fall of that year- the name may be their form of respect to a great figure of music.
Sounds like Thanksgiving morning in Connecticut. EMO TYPE CHAUNCEY meets KORG.

PAUL107, WHERE'S MY TACO AT?
The name comes from the movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Let's not get too literate here.
There is a scene at a bus stop where Pee Wee is waving good-bye to a woman named Simone, who was a waitress at a truck stop. In the scene, she's leaving on a bus to follow her dream of living in Paris. She leans out the window and yells "Au revoir, Pee Wee" and he yells back "Au revoir Simone"
