Jens Lekman

Those of you who’ve been with us from the beginning know of our deep love for Jens Lekman. I was infatuated with his “Black Cab” single for most of 2004 (my post has since disappeared but the song kicked off this vintage podcast). Then Lisa broke down everything that’s right about Jens with his 2007 …

Jens Lekman and Marla Hansen!

Seriously people… MY TWO FAVORITE MUSICIANS EVER WILL BE TOURING THE WORLD TOGETHER THIS SPRING. I apologize for the all caps, which no one likes, but I think I almost peed my pants with excitement and I just really needed to articulate just how excited I am. Jens has a knack for selecting super talented bands to tour with him (see: Frida Hyvonen, Beirut, Hello Saferide, etc.) and I’m just so very glad that he saw what we at the ‘Hive saw in Marla.

Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo [MP3, 5.9MB, 192kbps]

SAM’S ORIGINAL POST (5/26/04):
This 21-year-old Swede spins hopelessly hopeful AM gold from influences as diverse as Harry Nilsson, Nico, and Morrissey. [Added 22 Dec 2004: This kid’s mad prolific, be sure to check out his Department of Forgotten Songs blog where he will be posting outtakes, unreleased tracks, and other MP3 treats until his big U.S. tour in February 2005.]
You Are the Light [MP3, 3.2MB, 128kbps]
Black Cab [MP3, 5.8MB, 160kbps]
Rocky Dennis Farewell Song to the Blind Girl [MP3, 6.2MB, 160kbps]

Cute (That’s Right, I Said Cute) Jens Lekman Video

The opening lines to Jens Lekman’s “You Are the Light” go: “Yeah, I got busted/So I used my one phone call/To dedicate a song to you on the radio.” Seems like my man’s only crime is a silly, sentimental heart and a video to match.
