Polytherian is the new Dylan Tidyman-Jones (FRONDS, Sonny & The Sunsets, The Mallard) project. His debut album, Role Play, is a dreamy and haunting pop album, full of thought-provoking themes of self-discovery.

We are thrilled to debut Polytherian’s new video (directed by Hannah Burhorn) for “Adventure” the peppy glam/gaze-pop track that is packed with groove for days. It’s my favorite track on the album. Check it out below.

Role Play is available now on vinyl via Gold Robot Records and digitally from Polytherian’s Bandcamp page. Enjoy.

The Resonars

Matt Rendon has been cranking out the garage-pop jams under the moniker The Resonars since 1997. His newest album, Disappear, is another 14 solid tracks, including covers of The Mamas & The Papas’ “Even If I Could” and Herman’s Hermits’ “Don’t Go Out Into The Rain, You’re Going To Melt”. Check out the burner “Let’s Bring It Home” (below), it’s a good one.

Disappear is available for a mere $7 from The Resonars’ Bandcamp page. I suggest you buy it right now. I slept on this album for way too long, do not make the same mistake. A vinyl release will be coming in early 2021, I can’t wait for that. Enjoy.

Magister Ludi

We are pleased to bring you the world premier of “Polecat” the hell-raising new single (and video) from Harrisonburg, VA rockers, Magister Ludi. It’s a quick minute and forty-eight seconds of pounding drums, heavy-sludge guitar riffs and some harsh gravely vocals (I hope this dude’s throat is okay). Check it out below.

Magister Ludi’s debut album, Deep Fakes, is out later this month via Funny / Not Funny Records. It’s a pretty nutty release that continues to grow on me the more I listen to it. Enjoy.

Bananagun

Melbourne five-piece Bananagun bring their brand of funky exotica meets psychedelic rock goodness on their debut LP The True Story of Bananagun. This is a head-nodding, rump-shaking 11 tracks (including one with birds singing over the top of a killer bongo beat) of nothing but groove, it is safe to say this album has groove for days. Check out “Mushroom Bomb” and “Taking The Present For Granted” below, they will hook you for sure.

The True Story of Bananagun is out now via Full Time Hobby. It’s a good one. Enjoy.

Permanent Collection

“Nothing good is normal” is a great slogan to live life by. I have this slogan as one of the rotating desktops on my computer at work. It helps remind me to be myself and to try not to worry about what others think of me. Nothing Good Is Normal is also the title of Jason Hendardy’s new album (and first since 2012) under the moniker Permanent Collection.

Nothing Good Is Normal is 24 minutes of fuzzed-out, LOUD as hell punk rock tunes that will thrash your speakers and leave you begging for more. Check out my favorite track “Nothing Else” below. Nothing Good Is Normal is available now via Bandcamp. I highly recommend that you buy the album and strive to live your life by its title too. Enjoy.

Khruangbin

Khruangbin are back with Mordechai, their first proper album since their smash 2018 release Con Todo El Mundo. This new album has all the funk, groove and soul you’ve come to expect from a Khruangbin release, with the addition of vocals on most the tracks – which act more like an additional instrument rather than being at the forefront of the tracks – it’s a nice touch.

Mordechai is solid from beginning to end and perfect for those late night “stay home, stay safe” solo dance parties.

We have Mordechai on delicious transparent pink vinyl at the 3hive Record Lounge. It’s also available via Dead Oceans Records. Enjoy.

Galore

San Francisco 4-piece Galore came together based on a shared love of 80’s Brit-pop and the Pacific Northwest scene of the 90’s and we are all better for it.

Their debut, self-titled album is 10 tracks of hazy, lo-fi bedroom-pop / garage-rock goodness. It’s a great 23 minute escape from what ails you. Check out two of my favorite tracks “Lemon Tea” and “Cucaracha” (below) to get yourself acquainted.

Galore is out now via Sonny Smith’s newish label Rocks In Your Head. You can pick it up on vinyl from the 3hive Record Lounge. I highly recommend getting your paws on this one. Enjoy.

Take a trip through the tropical beats of South America and Japan with Monster Rally’s new two-part digital 45, Escape To The Cloud Forest. As usual, like everything MR releases, it’s really good.

Escape To The Cloud Forest is available now via MR’s Bandcamp page and you can sample its goodness below. Enjoy.

You can also pick up some other Monster Rally releases on vinyl at the 3hive Record Lounge. MR on vinyl is a treat, you won’t regret it.

LAZY SALON

Sean Byrne (as LAZY SALON) has just added another standout album to his already stacked catalog of LZ releases. Lazy Salon (his new self-titled release) is 34 minutes of chilled out, sweeping instrumentals, layered over the top smoking hot drum beats. These 8 tracks are the Calgon for the soul, especially during these COVID-19 times. He calls them “cosmic instrumentals” which pretty much nails it.

Give “Wild Travels” (below) a spin, it’s a great example of the entire album’s goodness. Lazy Salon is available now on Bandcamp. I highly recommend it.

Camino Sound

Recorded mostly before all hell broke loose in 2020; New Jersey trio, Camino Sound, has unleashed their debut Western Excuses, on the world.

Comprised of 8 instrumental “soundtracks” (that’s how they refer to each song), Western Excuses weaves it’s way through many genres including psych-rock, funk, surf and straight up rock ‘n’ roll. These guys have chops for days.

Listen to “You Are The Map” and “Disculpas Occidentales” (below) for a taste. Western Excuses is available now via Camino Sound’s Bandcamp page. I highly Recommend it.
