Anyone who follows this site is well aware of how much I am a fan of all things psychedelia. Springtime Carnivore is no exception. Greta Morgan’s colorful, warm mixture of pop and psych grabbed my attention from the first listen of “Name On A Matchbook” (below) and I haven’t stopped listening since.
Springtime Carnivore’s self-titled debut is out now on Autumn Tone Records. I highly recommend it.

After a 30 day “one beat from both of us everyday” challenge Seattle’s Paces Lift and St. Louis’ Ben Bounce created the framework for their new collaboration LP, Quick Trigger. Two years of mixing and fine tuning, their masterpiece Quick Trigger was ready for consumption. The result is fourteen lo-fi, psychedelic, beat driven tracks sprinkled with bits of spaghetti western and old vinyl crackle. It’s a solid release which has quickly risen to the top of my albums of the year list.
Quick Trigger is available now on killer looking “ox blood” vinyl with cover art done by none other than Ted Feighan (aka Monster Rally) from Wax Thématique. It’s also streaming and downloadable from Paces Lift’s Bandcamp page. Feast your ears on some of Quick Trigger‘s goodness below. Enjoy!

There is not a lot of info on the interweb about David Novick, but I will share with you what I know. He is out of SanFrancisco. He recently released his second album Your Sister’s Hand.
Novick’s psychedelic folk sound is perfect to chill out to. Check out slow builder “Beneath The Line” (below) to sample a taste of Novick’s mellow goodness. Your Sister’s Hand is available now on Ty Segall’s Drag City imprint GOD?. Enjoy.

Chicago’s Verma pound out some serious psychedelic jams on their newest LP Sunrunner. The buzzing guitars and throbbing bass lines play nicely with the constant wind like noise blowing through all 7 songs on the album. In trying to keep the summer theme going, here is Denver’s Fingers of The Sun. This 6-piece psych pop band led by Suzi Allegra and Nathan Brasil just put out their newest EP simply titled 3 EP, featuring 5 songs of paisley-psych-garage-pop-rock goodness that is sure to brighten anyone’s day. 3 EP is available digitally from Fingers of The Sun’s Bandcamp page and on cassette from Burger records.
Check out super-sunny opener “Tambourines & Toasters” below. It reminds me of the Cowsills’ “The Rain, The Park and Other Things” even though it sounds nothing like it, it must be the vibe. Trust me, you are going to dig it.

Brooklyn’s (by way of Denver) Woodsman are a three-piece psych-rock juggernaut. They recently released their self-titled third LP on their own imprint Fire Talk Records.
The album is best when listened to from start to finish, but since we only share one song “Healthy Life” (below) is the one. It’s thick bass line, snappy drums and spacey guitar suck you in and don’t let go. This is my favorite album to listen to in the car, especially on my way home from work. I can crank it up and get lost in it. You can get it now through Woodsman’s Bandcamp page or from Fire Talk, you won’t regret it.
Woodsman – Healthy Life from S/T (2014)
Sometimes life and the drama that comes with it can twist you up into a giant mess that seems impossible to unravel. Then, out of the blue, something great will come along and completely change your attitude. That something for me is Doug Tuttle’s recently released, debut, self-titled LP. Tuttle’s use of shimmering, jangly guitars, bits of what sounds to me like organ, crashing cymbals along with his slow as cold molasses vocals combine to make an album of songs that will help you forget your troubles for at least the thirty-seven minutes it takes to get from start to finish. Doug Tuttle’s LP is out now on Trouble In Mind. I highly recommend it.

Shimmery guitars, wacky background noises and reverb for days are just some of the elements that make California native Morgan Delt’s self-titled debut LP a psychedelic masterpiece. Delt cites artists like The Byrds and Love, along with Curtis Boettcher and West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band as influences and he wears those influences proudly on his sleeve throughout his new album.
“Obstacle Eyes” (below) is just a taste of the goodness contained in this release. It’s sunniness is sure to break you out of your winter funk. Morgan’s new album comes out January 28 on Trouble In Mind Records. Enjoy.

After relocating to Portland, Oregon from San Francisco, Wooden Shjips are back with their newest release Back To Land with Thrill Jockey Records. Check out the mesmerizing, fuzzy, keyboard/guitar driven, psych’d-out title track below. It’s 5 minutes of head-nodding goodness.
Back To Land is a solid release and is quickly rising up my favorite albums of 2013. I highly recommend it. You can get the album in whichever format suits you from Thrill Jockey.
Wooden Shjips – Back To Land from Back To Land (2013)
Halifax, Nova Scotia musician Samuel Hill has been recording music as The Everywheres since 2012. The music is a warm, shimmery, swirling guitar filled, psych-pop album with just the right amount of fuzz, reverb and as Father/Daughter describes, “peyote induced tambourines”. Check out opening track, “Unfortunate Direction” (below), to see what I mean.
The Everywheres self titled debut will be released through Father/Daughter Records on June 25. It’s a must have.
