Phoenix, AZ punk rockers The Rebel Set are back with a new EP featuring 4 tracks of organ-fried, fuzzy punk rock goodness. You can stream all 4 songs below, I highly recommend that you do.
This bad boy is available now on vinyl (and digitally) through Hidden Volume Records. You should snag this on vinyl, that’s the best way to experience any Hidden Volume release. Enjoy!
There is not a lot of info out there about Gloria out of Lyon, France. Their sound is a throwback to the 60’s, reminiscent of groups like The Ronettes and The Shangri-Las. They just released their debut LP, In Excelsis Stereo, via French label Howlin’ Banana Records.
Give the fuzzed-out, jangly “In The Morning” (below) a spin, you’re going to dig it. In Excelsis Stereo is out now and available in multiple formats from Howlin’ Banana.
Toronto’s Pow Wows have been making their brand of grimey garage rock since 2010. Their latest 7 incher, Hey Doctor (via Hidden Volume Records), is another testament to their goodness.
Stream it now (below) and head over to Hidden Volume’s site and snag yourself a copy on vinyl or digital – I highly recommend this on vinyl. Enjoy.
The Minni-Thins describe themselves as “…a loud hodge-podge of nineties indie rock, punk, folk, and even country…. think: the Butthole Surfers doing LSD with Connor Oberst and having a bad trip while trying to write an album in the style of The Pixies.” I can’t top that. Give their burner “Apparent” (below) a spin, it’s a sure thing to clean out your sinuses.
Their album, That Old Kentucky Blackgrass, has finally been unleashed upon the masses after being shelved for 10 years. You can get a hold of it now on their Bandcamp page. Enjoy.

Hidden Volume Records is at it again with their latest rock ‘n’ roll 7″ – this time from Montreal duo Birds of Paradise.
The A-side (streaming below) is the duo’s thick and grungy version of Randy Newman’s “Beehive State” and on the B-side is their dusty, garage-pop rendition of Pearl Jones’ “Please Stay“.
As usual this is another solid Hidden Volume release that belongs in your collection. What are you waiting for? Go get yourself a copy from their Bandcamp page now, before they are all gone.
Kansas City’s 5-piece indie pop band Rachel Mallin & The The Wild Type are just what you need to get yourself out of the early stages of “winter funk”. Check out toe tapper “Dropout” (below) for a taste. Their new EP
Degenerate Matters is 4 tracks of hook-driven gold which can and should be snagged from their website. Enjoy.
Mora Tuga is the imaginary world that RUMTUM (sometimes known as John Hastings) created through drawings as a kid. A graphic novel that he wasn’t able to finish as a kid has now been completed through his new LP of the same name. Like RUMTUM’s drawings and illustrations, his music is created very much in the same way, as layers upon layers of guitars, percussion, synths and more play and bounce off of each other with precise intent.
Mora Tuga is clearly a labor of love. I highly recommend getting lost in it. Give “Hemispheres” (below) a spin – it’s a perfect peek into the world that RUMTUM has created.
Mora Tuga is available now on vinyl through the fabulous Wax Thématique Records – you’d be a fool not to get a copy of this on vinyl. If vinyl is not your thing you can get it digitally from RUMTUM’s Bandcamp page. Please enjoy.
