Cincinnati, Ohio’s Knife The Symphony have been destroying speakers for the better part of 10 years. They’ve performed with Mission of Burma, 7 Seconds, The Bomb and many others. They have several releases under their belts, including their newest split 12 incher with Smoke Signals….

KTS’ drummer/vocalist, Jerry Dirr, also runs Phratry Records and has been putting out releases from bands like Swear Jar, A.M. Nice and Kelley Deal since 2004.

KTS’ newest release is the aforementioned, 12″ split, with Smoke Signals…. KTS’ three song contribution are blistering, punk/noise rock blasts that are sure to get any fan of Drive Like Jehu to take notice. They also remind me a lot of the, now defunct, SLC band Form of Rocket. Check out the face-melting opener, “Causation” (below), for a taste. You will like it.

What a pleasant surprise A.M. Nice’s new release was when I found it in my inbox a week ago or so. The Cincinnati trio’s angular guitars, chunky bass lines and pounding drum blasts throughout their upcoming, self-titled LP, make for one tough as hell release.

Give opening track “Self Mediate” a spin below – it will shred your speakers.
