The Constantines

28 Jul

Guess I could have waited until the new Constantines album comes out in October to post these guys, but I’m putting them up today as “the band that played twice within an hour of my house in the month of July and I missed them both times.” Ah well… In the month of July, my daughter took her first trip to NYC and went #2 on the potty for the first time; Sam and I used power tools in his backyard in July; Jon aged gracefully into his next decade in July; Clay recovered from daughter #3, and so on. Catching live the intense art punk of The Constantines would have been a great addition to this list, but, come to think of it, I actually wouldn’t mind a little down time.

Its like Dez Cadena (Black Flag) singing for the Grifters. I dig it.

I saw these guys this past month when they opened for The Foo Fighters and Sloan in Winnipeg. Sorry to say it but i dont find them all that good live.

the constantines are the best! and kenny, maybe they werent that good cuz they played in a huge arena, i guess theyre used to small venues where theres more interaction with the crowd… you should really check out one of their smaller shows

been a fan of these guys for a long time now, finally had the chance to catch a live show of their's this summer in a campus pub in my hometown. bloody. awesome. i find that if you want to hear the lyrics really well, listen to the album. but if you want soul driving, rocking out like there's no tomorrow, definitely catch one of their shows in a smallish venue.
